Maruti Suzuki was the first carmaker in India to make a foray into the CNG segment in 2010. Mainstream carmakers like Tata, Hyundai, and the upcoming Kia cars will also have CNG kits as optional. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga CNG 

The seven-seater Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is one of the most popular travelling vehicles for groups. The updated 2022 Ertiga sports roof-mounted A/C vents, air-cooled can holders, and auto headlamps, to name a few. The second-row seats have a one-touch slide and recline mechanism to access the third row. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a CNG kit that produces 87bhp at 5500rpm and 121Nm of torque at 4200rpm. It is exclusively available with a five-speed manual transmission. The updated 2022 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has four variant options – LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+. The MPV also comes in a Tour M variant to cater to the fleet operators.

The ARAI claimed mileage of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga CNG is 26.11km/kg. The on-road Delhi prices of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga CNG are Rs12.02 lakh and Rs13.27 lakh for the Ertiga VXI CNG and Ertiga ZXI CNG, respectively.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG

It is considered the most fuel-efficient car in India.

The Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG features a multi-function steering wheel, electric ORVMs, engine start/stop button, dual airbags, and front and rear power windows.

The engine specifications of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio include a 1.0-litre K10C petrol unit paired with CNG that generates 56bhp and 82Nm of torque. It is only available in the five-speed manual. The certified mileage of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG is 35.6km/kg.

The Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG has only one variant, the Celerio VXi, priced at Rs7.50 lakh (on-road Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG

The Dzire is one of the best CNG cars in India and is popular among fleet operators. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire VXI CNG is quite feature-loaded. It has a multi-function steering wheel, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and a touch-screen infotainment system. In addition, it gets auto HVAC, an engine start/stop button, etc.

Under the hood, it gets a 1.2-litre petrol engine that churns out 76.43bhp@6000rpm of power and 98.5Nm@4300rpm of torque. It is only available with a manual transmission. The ARAI-claimed mileage of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG is 31.12km/kg. The ex-showroom Delhi price of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire VXi CNG is Rs8.23 lakh, while the Dzire ZXi CNG costs Rs8.91 lakh.

Hyundai Aura S CNG

In terms of features, it is nearly as loaded as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG.

As far as the engine specifications are concerned, it gets a 1.2-litre petrol engine coupled with CNG that generates 68.05bhp@6000rpm and 95.2nm@4000rpm of torque. It is available in manual transmission only. The ARAI-certified mileage of the Hyundai Aura S CNG is 28km/kg. The ex-showroom Delhi price of the Hyundai Aura S CNG is Rs7.88 lakh.

Tata Tigor i-CNG 

The Tata Tigor i-CNG came to the market along with the Tata Tiago i-CNG. Under the hood, the Tigor gets a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that generates 72bhp and 95Nm of torque. It only gets a five-speed manual transmission. The ARAI-claimed mileage of the Tata Tigor i-CNG is 20.3km/kg.

In terms of features, the top model of the Tata Tigor i-CNG is pretty much loaded. It sports a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rear parking camera, a rain-sensing wiper, projector headlamps, auto HVAC, etc.

Overall, the exterior of the top variant of the Tata Tigor i-CNG looks premium. It sports chrome garnishes, chrome grilles, and other chrome inserts on the body. The Tigor i-CNG also gets projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail-lights, and a shark-fin antenna, to name a few.

The Tata Tigor i-CNG has three variants: XZ CNG, XZ Plus CNG, and XZ Plus Dual Tone Roof CNG. The ex-showroom Delhi price ranges between Rs7.85 lakh and Rs8.57 lakh.

Tata Tiago i-CNG

The Tata Tiago i-CNG is one of the most popular cars in India. The petrol version is one of their bestsellers. However, the top model of the Tata Tiago i-CNG looks premium as compared to its rivals. It looks better with its chrome grille paired with chrome tri-arrows flanked by revised headlights. In addition, it also gets LED DRLs, projector headlamps, etc.

It runs on steel wheels, but the design of steel wheels mimics the look of alloy wheels. The top variant of the Tata Tiago i-CNG features a cooled glove box, an auto HVAC, keyless entry, a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment unit, a rear parking camera, etc.

In terms of engine specifications, the Tata Tiago i-CNG gets the same engine as the Tata Tigor i-CNG. It gets a 1.2-litre i-CNG engine that produces 72bhp and 95Nm of torque, coupled with a five-speed manual gearbox. The ARAI-claimed mileage of the Tata Tiago i-CNG is 26.49km/kg.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR CNG:

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR, popularly known as the Tall Boy, is one of the most popular cars in the country.

Under its bonnet, the WagonR CNG gets a 1-litre petrol engine that generates 56bhp at 5300rpm and 82Nm of torque at 3400rpm. It is exclusively available with a five-speed manual transmission. The ARAI-claimed mileage of the Maruti Suzuki WagonR CNG is 34.05km/kg.

The top model, VXI CNG, of the WagonR features 60:40 rear split seats, Day/Night IRVM, keyless entry, touch-screen infotainment screen, etc.

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR CNG price starts at Rs6.42 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and goes up to Rs6.86 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It has only two variants on offer: the WagonR LXI CNG and the WagonR VXI CNG.
